A Bit of Brooklyn
By Sara Omer
In the hustling city of New York, it's easy to miss things we pass by so frequently--our neighbors, the crunch of the leaves beneath our feet, and heck, even the notorious subway. As I exited my local train station, I had to wait quite a while for my bus to whisk me home. Out of boredom, I stare at everything around me. The people rushing home from work. The deli I've been going to since I was a kid. The store my dad used to have right here just two blocks from here. I snap a photo of what my eyes saw directly in front of me, and translated it into my sketchbook so I always have a piece of home with me wherever I go.
